Is it normal they dont really help first year students?

First year students(for college) pay the most fee and as well as that get the least amount of grant/scholarship/Loan money. This makes no sense since first years are going to need the most money just to get them started and less later on after 2nd and 3rd year. So why are we so hard on the freshmen, do they hate people going to college? Isnt that more money for them?

Because a lot of people drop out or fail in the first year, they only want to back the winning horses.

I find that claim you made curious. I applied for a scholarship in my second semester of college. I was eligible for the scholarship in every single way (gpa, amount of credit hours, etc.). Want to know why I didn't get the scholarship? Because I wasn't a high school transfer. Seriously. What a lame excuse. You mean to tell me that out of all the people who buy lottery tickets, all the billions of dollars that go into that shit, you couldn't spare a measly $5000 dollars to someone who really could have used it? Fucking corrupt bullshit... It STILL pisses me off.

    • I checked multiple schools and they listed on average how much it would cost for tuition. The 3-4 year was a couple thousand cheaper than the 1-2 year students. The 1 paid the most and have to live in the student halls. Its mandatory. The 3-4 could live in the student housing, or off campus housing. This seems like a trend.

Like for a Freshmen the year will be like 30,000 for everything while for 3-4 it will be 10000-20000. Like these are the Freshmen, they probably dont have a job going in especially if they transferred in from another city. I know a lot of students will get jobs at the school after enrolling for an amount of time. So doesn't it make more sense to charge students 3-4 more than a Freshmen? That just discourages people from attending.
