Is it normal they wont take my head phones?

I lost my friends headphones. I can not find them. However I have a pair, brand new, same brand but different color. They refuse to take them. If they take me to court, I can either get him a new pair, or pay him the money it costs and its only like 10$. Why wont they take my head phones? This seems a little retarded.

    I put not normal,only because there is no premis for a case,not even in a small claims court,it's a gawd damn pair of ten dollar head phones.

    Who would go to court for $10.00? Now THAT seems pretty damn retarded to me.
    Give your exfriend a tenner or even $15.00 just to get them off your back and say good bye for the last time.
