Is it normal to avoid telling landlord about problems?

Based on my past experiences with informing him about problems I have not told him that the range burnt up and no longer works. By burnt up I mean the element fried and rendered the oven inoperable and I tried to only use the cooktop but it was making popping and snapping noises which I figure are electrical problems so I unplugged it for good. The last time I told him about a drain problem and he came over, dug a trench in the yard and left and I had to fill the trench back in and fix the drain probem! He did nothing but create more work! There is plants growing in the gutters too and he doesn't care. Animals get up under the roof because of the gutters being weighted down from the plants leaves a gap. I pay my rent every month still though. I feel really used by him honestly. I have fixed so much stuff but he doesn't appreciate it. What should I do for revenge?
