Is it normal to be an occultist and practice every religion?

I've been studying the occult for half a year and practicing magick for about three months. I have gotten with a spirituality group and have done magick with each other, things like astral projection meetups, orb mind-programming, physical manipulation and mental manipulation, contact with deities, etc. and have had overrall success. We live the life of a hermit and like monks the most, especially Tibetan Buddhism. I also go by the paradigm of paradigms, or Chaos Magick. I take part in every religion. I've done Christian Mysticism and been in sinister satanic "tribes" like the Order of the Nine Angles, because there's no "rules" or "guidelines" to belief. I'm mainly Discordian (did you know God is a mad woman who loves chaos?), Hermetic, Chaotic, and Buddhist but take little bits from every religion and deeply study every religion. I can carry a conversation with people from all religions, better than the people who think they're hot shit because "they took a two year philosophy class in college". Now is this normal? I see belief as a tool not faith and consider blind faith extremely mundane but I understand feeling safe believing someone's there watching you, but why not go out there and meet him yourself? Why not become a god? Why not CREATE your own gods and make some goofy religion to steal loosh from people? These are just a tiny portion of questions I have for mundanes. It's mainly because of a study I read, that people who sincerely believe in fairies will see faries better than people who don't believe in fairies.

An atheist who's curious. I was just checking for creationists to laugh at, when I saw this masterpiece of mumbo jumbo.

I must say I was quite entertained.

I have a serious question, one that stems from serious concern. When you are conversing/channeling entities, how do you know that these entities are who they claim to be? There have been many people, both amateurs and "professionals", who have been deceived by demons into thinking that they were speaking to benevolent entities. What precautions are you taking to protect yourself or are you blindly opening yourself to these forces?

I'm an atheist and chaos mage. IMO, it depends on how you view evocations and invocations. I personally go into a ritual with the overstanding that I'm evoking an allegory or aspect of MY personality rather than summoning forth a "diety" or entity. To me it's no different than putting yourself through hypnosis to summon the mind's subconscious thoughts searching for a remedy to a situation. We already know the answers, we just need a bit of help and ritual to get them out.

Wicca was founded in 1900's by Gerald Gardner. It IS a form of occultism if you choose it to be. All neopagans say they're a gajillion years old when they're not, in fact, Asatru/Odinism (which is NOT Wicca) is probably the oldest form of Paganism there is. Wicca was taken from Thelema a lot (it's a fact... look it up) and they've taken from other Pagans too. I honestly hate Wicca with their pacifist bullshit, especially now Wicca is corrupt by feminists now the girls are all high and mighty when we should be equal. I'm not saying Wicca doesn't work because I've had candle magick work, I just hate the way it is and how all Wiccans claim they're the oldest religion. You should use some magick to fix your goddamn grammar, too.

Answer to your original post: I was RAISED by occultists and I too find that a lot of different spiritual ideologies resonate with me... There is nothing wrong with that.

However, the amount of douchery exuding from your previous posts... it's unreal. I think you are the epitome of hipsters ruining the occult. Your issue is that you are far too new to the practice and have become so overly complacent with your beliefs to the point where you are even bashing another PAGAN. You misread what @:wiccadragonfly was actually saying. They did not say that Wicca was the OLDEST religion but a religion of the Oldest Religion (i.e. WITCHCRAFT). Just because a religion is fairly new does not mean that its teachings have zero value.
Also, Wicca was not "taken" from Thelema- Gardiner was a fan and friend of Crowley and had him write a few wiccan rituals. SO if you're bashing wicca, you're bashing Crowley, Thelema, The Golden Dawn and so many other traditions. Perhaps you need to do some more research and then some soul searching to save yourself from sounding like even more of a wanna-be-edgy-fuckwad.

Oh, almost forgot: blessed be & 93's!

I guess it's normal. Heck, I even know some people who have taken upon themselves to worship the god Talos from a videogame I play, Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim (I do think those people are a bit out of touch with reality but whatever rocks their boat). Doing your own thing and knowing what you're talking about is always a good thing. I am a catholic girl but I take wisdoms from other religions as well, and yes, I admit to being guilty of practising what many call "magic". I read the tarot, am able to analyze hands and faces, I meditate, I have been using astral projection to find out about past lives. I believe that whatever you wanna call your God(s) and Goddess(es), they are all one and the same. You sound like a modern druid, and that's really cool. You have a purpose in your life; don't let narrow-minded people who insist on being right take that away from you.

Yes I have played Skyrim, great game. I don't believe there is a purpose in this physical density, I'm a teensy bit nihilstic. Yes a lot of my workings are duridistic. Personally I do not think divination or meditation is magick, nr is astral projection, just spirituality. Magick is the changing things with Will. I'm not that mentally weak, I'm not going to quit doing something just because some person online said something lol.

      Aleister*

He was not pure evil, I highly doubt you've read his books. I am not a follower of the Thelema Cult, no, but I like how he tought other Christians that magick isn't wrong and to stop believing in blind faith, he preached love, pacifism (fuck pacifism though) , and was one of the first Westeners to practice yoga. He is not some sexual deviant (scratch that - he fucked everything in his path, so what?) nor is he a "Satanic sacrficer" or whatever. He was a man who lived life to the fullest, pranked others, preached love, the typical hippy.

As long as you aren't partaking in black magick and other dark practices, it should be fine. I too am very interested in spirituality, mysticism (etc.) I do draw the line at dark practices, though.

Divine Holy magick first, then black magick. I partake in all practices of magick - with caution though. I do not make pacts nor oaths but it is essential that you unleash every emotion. For example, you can lovingly hate. Currently Im working o Hermeticism (a lot to do with jewish shit) and the Divine gave me the ability to heal supposedly. Just like every assassin should know the antidote to his poison, every magician should know how to heal before they harm. It's not like I'm going to create a entity to which it can smolder cities or anything...

With the concept of creating a God, seeing as it is a creation of your own mind therefore not an entity can it truly be a religion? Also you'd be aware you'd fabricated it yourself. Then again the definition of a religion is a grey area

Just out of interest as it wasn't mentioned in the post what are your feelings towards those such as me who are atheists and don't believe in anything supernatural for lack of a better word

    ( don't worry I have thick skin :) )

I don't care for other's beliefs, do what thou wilt. I just think fedorafags (internet speak for atheists if you didn't know) are in favor of the Demiurge (creator of physicality, physicality is a like running a 480p version of a 1080p video) and will reincarnate until they "wake up". Hell, there's atheist magicians. I don't particularly believe in any gods, besides Eris, the All, and the Demiurge. Other than that, all other deities are just tulpas/thoughtforms.

Do what thou wilt, I think "spiritual warfare" or whatever these people say are just getting butthurt because somebody isn't worshiping muh energy stealer. Just live life and experience along the way, regardless of belief. Break free from the trap of physicality.
