Is it normal to be deathly afraid of rollercoasters?
I once rode a rollercoaster when I was a child, like 6 years old or something, and since then, I have never dared riding one again.

I'm the exact opposite that way. I like to get scared on rides. The more gut wrenching and heart pounding the better. But it's not like you have to ride rollercoasters to get to work. Just sit back and watch idiots like me scream their head off.
I will never go on a rollercoaster.
Once as a kid I accidently entered the line to a rollercoaster thinking it was another carnival ride, and when I realized I panicked and pushed myself out of the building the line went through and ran outside. That in itself is enough trauma for me to never try to go on one on purpose tbh.
On top of that i've heard too many times lately about big rides like rollercoasters failing and causing fatal accidents. Well 2 or 3 such accidents in the last 2-3 years, but to me that is far too often it happens.
I used to ride them as a kid, but am afraid of them now too. I don't like heights, and am terrified of one getting stuck at the top of a hill and either being trapped there for hours, or having to walk down the stairs. I saw the latter happen to others a few times with the tallest ride at the amusement park. 😬
