Is it normal to be diagnosed with hepatitis a?

I got some bad news today. Its not certain yet but I'm pretty sure. It would explain a lot. My guess is I've had it from anywhere between several months and a couple years. Does that mean I'll have trouble getting rid of it if I've had it a while?

Idk what to do. I shared food with everyone and I'm worried about them. I can't kiss the guy I've been kissing lately. My dad's not going to be able to handle this. This sucks. I hate some people.

Tell everyone you've shared food with or had direct oral/oral-anal in within two to six weeks, so that they can get tested. http://www.m.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/hepatitis-and-sex-frequently-asked-questions

You couldn't have had it for a couple of years and there's no way to "get rid of it", it'll pass in a month or two.

When you get a definite test result ask the doctor about how infectious it is: I had it years ago and I really can't remember that info, but I do remember I felt terrible for a couple of weeks before I had very light coloured poo and dark urine one morning and knew I had some sort of liver problem.

It's caught from contact with infected faeces: eg off toilet door knobs if person before you didn't wash their hands or I'm fairly sure infected food, again if whoever prepared it didn't wash hands properly.

Ask the experts when you go for the final test results.

I do remember that I lost heaps of weight because I didn't want food and anyway you can't eat dairy or meat and a whole lot of other stuff for a while.

I've just read and I copy, "The time between infection and symptoms, in those who develop them, is between two and six weeks." So it's probably from somebody you just met

    • I started losing weight a couple years ago and it's my ex who i haven't been with for months who told me i should get checked. I don't have any symptoms now aside from still having trouble gaining weight.

I didn't know much about that virus but I've read that the body clears it and it just takes a couple of months. You just need to rest and eat healthy I guess.

Most people get it from eating infected food, not sex. You could have gotten it from someone who served you food after not washing their hands in the bathroom.
