Now I know why my grandfather had a permanent disgusted look on his face, and never said much. Like he knew he didn’t have anywhere else to go, and he’d be dead soon, so what’d be the point?

    It took you this many years to figure out that you had a basic incompatibility? Also, and to not really work on resolving it or to end the relationship?

      Obviously we were compatible at one time, but we’ve both changed.

      Like I said in the post, where would I go at my age? Besides, the one redeeming thing is that I see my grandkids almost every day which is a joy, and that would probably stop.

          We’re beyond that. She says it’s all my fault, and accepts no responsibility. The best I can hope for is to tolerate the situation until I’m gone.

            Tell her you're going fishing. Then stop at Walmart, buy some cheap camp gear and never come back. Maybe y'alls can get a job at a golf course in the Florida Keys over the winter. Rent a garden shed for a place to stay.
