Is it normal to be genetically gay?

One hundred percent hypothetically; if someone was one of a number of real genetically identical clones, could one of them be gay?
If being gay is a genetic predisposition, how would one turn out so different from the others? What does that do to the nature vs nurture gay debate?
High and went off on this thought after watching Orphan Black.

    • Again just curious, but what difference does sex make when you are getting a BJ?

I like the feeling of a man wanting to get me off. The power he feels. I like getting sucked off by women too in case you are interested.

I'm bi but I wasn't attracted to guys until I started crushing on a friend when I was already 16.

I hadn't ever had the slightest thought of loving a man before.

Fast forward X many years, and I'm perfectly comfortable that through my own thoughts I became bi. No outside influence. No genetic predisposition.

The genetics have been proven to be there, but I doubt it's the leading factor.

Sexual orientation doesn't seem to be determined by genetics. At least until now, nobody has been able to find the "gay-gene".

So yes, it is possible, that out of 100 genetically identical clones, some of them would be gay.

If they were all clones then theoretically they should be all the same. All gay or not.

I read this sci-fi story once about clones. If some are male and some female and they have sex is it incest?

  • I believe it may be more your experiences as a child. Don't know that much about genetics, but for me, childhood shaming from parents for even looking at sparsely clothed women pushed me into leaning towards being gay. I craved some sexual release, and when the opportunity was there (13 years old) , my friend's cock filled the bill (and my mouth). Now, even though I was married and have 4 beautiful kids, my preference is cock!

Because being gay so I've heard, is something that comes about by being exposed to antibodies in the womb. So its got to do with the environment of the fetus. Look it up, its interesting.

One can be genetically predisposed to anything. But it does not mean you will definitely develop the condition. However it does mean that genetics plays a role in it's development.

I'm not a geneticist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

I believe sexual orientation is dependent on genetics and biology because as a straight person, I couldn't ever imagine being attracted to the same-sex. I'm just naturally attracted to the opposite sex, and you can't really control what you're attracted to. It only makes sense that genetics must determine what you're naturally attracted to, right? I don't see any other explanation for it.

There are so many things that we do not understand about genetics that this is hard to answer. Even identical twins are not perfect genetic matches. A lot of people use twins to make the same argument. But you also have identical twins where one is left handed and one right handed. In fact there is a whole classification of twins called mirror twins, which can have such opposite characteristics, and even opposite features like the same birth mark but on different legs.

Also, something can be both genetic and environmental. Someone might be born with a genetic predisposition for alcoholism or type 2 diabetes, but never develop them.

So I am not sure it would say a lot about it, and at the end of the day I wouldn't care. Because, regardless of the reason, most people can agree that they personally have little or no control over who they are attracted to. Attraction is something that just happens. Just like this is true for a straight person, it is also true for me as a gay person.
