That's quite confusing to me. The dark is your friend. It hides you and keeps those wishing to harm you from finding you. Sleeping with a light on only facilitates the bad ones to find you and harm you. The dark is your friend.
Being scared of the unknown is normal. The darkness is a place you can not see so what is beyond it can be scary.
this fear most likely helped our ancestors...now its obviously not keeping you safe from predators that hunt at night as your in a house. But I think is a normal fear still.
If you always slept with a light on, it might be a habit. I think it pretty normal.
I agree with reminiscent. What is unknown is often scary to us. But the more you know, the better. Nothing randomly spawns in the dark. What's not in your room in the light, also isn't in it when it's dark
