Is it normal to be nervous about people/strangers coming to your home...?

Is it normal to be nervous about people/strangers coming round to your home? For example to view your property if you're moving out, or to service a boiler, or fix something. It makes me anxious and I'd like to know what others feel/think. It's mainly just not knowing who they are and what they're like. And it's also that they might be unhygienic or have a cold or something that I could catch! I also ask anyone to take their shoes off and sometimes worry that people won't want to. But then I can't tell them they can't come in. Is this a usual level of concern or does it seem over the top? Thanks.

Ya know you are one of the smart ones, Never feel bad or odd about that feeling, it is a God given thing, we have to be very careful who comes into our homes,People have a motive good/or bad, I would never open my door to a stranger, I dont allow someone to bring anyone to my home that they dont know well, Cant take chances these days, And I sleep with a loaded 38 every night, All my friends and family know's never play games with me, About breaking in I would not shoot someone for stealing gas ya know on the out side BUT they come in by breaking in they will go out in a body Bag.PERIED

Yes, it is normal. They might be a killer, a rapist or a tittie fucker. -'This Is The End' Reference.

Also the stranger could be a degenerate pervert or even a psycho killer which concerns me more than germs.
