Is it normal to be proper even when you know no one else will?

Manners and etiquette are not really always appreciated in modern day society. However there will always be etiquette and if no one follows it does not mean it is does not exist. Is it normal to follow a custom which is considered correct and polite even if you realize everyone else is rude because you know its the correct procedure?

I'm polite and proper (96%) of the time! It's just who I am by nature - it's really not a matter of "correct procedure" for me it comes naturally.

You do what makes you happy, regardless of what others are doing. I have very unique beliefs, and I'm constantly getting called out for how old fashioned I am for my age. Does it mean I'm going to change just because everyone else has turned into an ipad using non meat eating hybrid driving yuppies? Ofcourse not.

I like guns, and I believe everyone should own one, or atleast have the right to. I disagree with homosexuality and if you try to convince me that they have the right to marry eachother, I will no longer acknowledge your exsistence. I believe an ideal relationship is one where a woman is a home maker and is able to devote all her time to taking care of her family and I will always believe that.

Nomatter how many people get all high and mighty on me telling me to join the 21st century, I will never, EVER change the way I think or live. The best thing is, I live a happier, better, more fulfilled life than most of these morons telling me that I need to change, and nomatter how much they deny it, I'll always be happier because I do what I believe is right and it has not yet let me down.

Don't change for anybody! If you believe in good manners, practise them! Nobody can take that away from you.

It makes you happy to deny people with a different belief system the freedoms you wish to have yourself? So you deny my existence because I have a different opinion? Real mature buddy. You aren't old fashioned, just a little mean.

And by the way, I dont have an iPad, i do eat meat, and my car isnt a hybrid. Some one got all judgmental with no real basis for the argument.

O P - never lose the social graces, they are appreciated and get you far in life.

Aboslutely! Never change your politeness just because everyone else doesn't care about their own and others' politeness.

I don't live my life based on how everyone else lives theirs. If everyone else jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge, I wouldn't.
Choosing to live by a set of rules need not be dictated by society, it should be dictated by one's own moral compass.
