Is it normal to be scared when a guy wearing a turban is on your flight?

Intellectually I realize it's irrational and racist but when the man wearing a turban got on my flight I felt very uneasy. I'd feel that way if it happened again too even though I've experienced it and nothing bad happened. I know of more white guys who did antics on planes but I don't fear that happening to me. I just don't get it, can anyone relate?

I think the media and racist people talk way too much about things like that. You would never have that fear if you didn't know anything about it. At least you know how bad it sounds.

Aren’t those usually Sikhs ? Get your stereotypes straight.
But I do get a little scared of girls in niqab or burqa because at first glance they look like some kind of ghosts/reapers or someone who is hiding disfigurement (think: elephant man’s mask)

He's more than likely a Sikh, not a Muslim, and Sikhs are generally very chill and don't politicise their religion the way others do.

Even then, nobody is getting on a plane with any weapons or plans to commit a terror attack post-9/11. Security is way too tight for that on planes now.

The 9/11 planes were taken down with box cutters. Someone could get on a plane with a picture frame and some duct tape. Break off a few long shards, tape the bottom for a handle, and make a few knives for them and their buddies. Bigger and more dangerous then the box cutters. Airport Security like most security is a show to make people like you feel safe. If someone really wants to do something they will.

Are you going to lay down and let them do it?
        Let's say 5 terrorist on a plane of 100.
If you don't stand and fight.
        What good are you?

Ok... remind me never to get on a plane with you...

That said, you really think you wouldn't be questioned for having a picture frame and duct tape in your hand luggage? It's a bit random.

They are both allowed and not really that uncommon, unless you are literally carrying nothing else. I've traveled with both before, not for that reason, but I've never been asked about either.

Ask him to take it off to put yourself and the entire flight at ease.

  • Don’t worry about it. The guy boarding flights wearing a turban has been fully probed by airport security.
Now if he boards with a flying carpet I’d be worried.

    You kinda disrespect terrorist.
    Muslim or other.
If you want to get on a plane.
You make yourself blend in, not stand out.
You're a dumbass if you try to board a US flight with a turban and a S. vest.
    Give them some credit.
Besides, attention is paid to planes.
I'd be more worried about the semi tanker truck.
Full of gas going through a tunnel, or bridge.
