Is it normal to be this scared??

Okay..so..I am extremely scared of snakes. I know this is normal, a lot of people are scared of them. But my fear is much bigger.

I cant even look at the picture of a snake in a book. So cant I touch it. When I find one in a book, I just instinctively throw it away from myself.
I like to read sience magazines and they usually contain at least on picture of a snake..so..before I open it, I always give it to sb, so they rip all of the snakes out of it. I am just so awfully scared of them! And it is not because they are dangerous or poisonous or something, I just fear looking at them.

So tell me..am I normal? And is there anyone with the same problem?
