Is it normal to believe that chinese restaurants serve folks cat, dog,or rat?

I like Chinese food. However, when I order my favorite dish, "Orange Chicken" , I get some sort of meat that does not look or taste like chicken... It has strange striations in the meat...lots of cartilage and It tastes weird. I have also ordered beef dishes and the "beef" has a weird texture and taste too. I wouldn't mind if I wanted to eat cat or dog but I am expecting to eat poultry and beef 'cuz that is what I am paying for! To top things off, a few times I gave leftovers to stray cats that live behind my house and they just sniffed at it and looked at it like it was a lump of shit. Usually they eat whatever I put in front of them. I guess they're not cannibals! LOL.. is it normal to think Chinese restaurants are serving customers disgusting types of meat?

Did you ever think when you eat Chinese,
It ain't pork or chicken, but a fat siamese,
Yet the food tastes great, so ya don't complain,
but that's not chicken in your chicken chow mein
Seems to me I ordered sweet and sour pork,
    But Garfield's on my fork,
He's purrin here on my fork

There's a cat in the kettle at the Peking Moon,
The place that I eat everyday at noon,
They can feed you cat and you'll never know,
Once they wrap it up in dough, boys,
They fry it real crisp in dough

Chou Lin asked if I wanted more,
As he was dialin up his buddy at the old pet store,
I said not today, I lost my <<apettite,>> should be [[appetite]]
There's two cats in my belly and they want to fight,
I was suckin on a Rolaid and a Tums or two,
When I swear I heard it mew, boy,
And that is when I knew

There's a cat in the kettle at the Peking Moon,
I think I gotta stop eating there at noon,
They say that it's beef or fish or pork,
But it's purrin there on my fork,
There's a hairball on my fork

I doubt it's cat. It's probably an animal that was pumped full of hormones and antibiotics (then sprinkled with MSG.) The animal likely never walked more than a few steps in it's life and ate only highly processed corn. It lived in it's own feces and was tortured during it's short life only to sustain the need for Panda Express. The reason it doesn't taste or look like chicken or beef is because it wasn't raised to be a chicken or a cow. It was raised to be something that you can eat, but won't kill you...immediately. What do you think a human would look like if raised under the same conditions? You'll find perfect examples at Walmart.

Take a cue from your cat.

  • LOL you're only thinking that way because of that dumb stereotype we've been hearing for years. It's not true though.

No urban legend. My older brother kicked over a garbage can behind a Chinese restaurant once when he was a kid and he said a couple dog heads rolled out. He still tells this story today.

Normal to believe it but that doesn't make it true.

  • They do in their own countries but they aren't allowed here. A way to see if they do serve cat or dog meat is to meow or bark loudly and look at them, if they look everywhere around the restaurant for that animal. The rest is self explanatory.

  • It's an urban legend, relax.

Chinese? I don't know. If it is, it's good. However. This is a TRUE STORY. We were eating inside a Mexican restaurant once and I swear to God we heard a barking dog come from the kitchen. Everyone looked at each other, and the workers looked at us. However, my food was delicious, and everyone else's must have been, too, because we all
    Kept eating. Lol

I believe it. Some shelter's give away cats or reduced prices because they have so many. They don't asses cat owner's the way they asses dog/ livestock adopter's. They only ask a few questions. When I worked in a shelter a Asian came in carrying a 25 kilo dog and sat him on the counter and then asked to look at larger dogs. Yes Asian's do this because free cats is free meat. If in doubt, ask a uni student to test it

Eating any animal is equally wrong. It's funny how you worry so much about it.

I highly doubt that very many chinese places could get away with doing this in America. However, if I did find out I was eating dog, or cat, or rat, I would compliment how good the food was and keep right on eating.

Who says dogs and cats are to "innocent" and that we shouldn't eat those "poor animals" but cows are just fine to cut up and eat? Meat is meat.

There is a matter of where they get the cats and dogs if that is a case. I mean if you end up eating someones pet German Shepard they are going to make you pay for it. So you probably should not encourage this type of thing. Stealing a pet is one thing, killing and eating it I cant imagine how severe a lawsuit you will be getting for that and maybe even jail time. I am not sure where the OP is from but they are clearly from somewhere which sees dogs and cats as pet. So not a good idea to eat them.

Most Chinese restaurants in the west are run by Hong Kongers. In Hong Kong, eating cat or dog is 100% illegal, and you can get into trouble for doing it. Don't expect dogs or cats to be on the menu of most Chinese restaurants.

Except that they already had the Hong Kongese culture ingrained in them. It had been illegal since 1950. That's over 60 years.

Since most people do not have an issue eating rabbits, duck, geese, cow, seafood, pigs, or horses for the most part. However a lot of people have chosen cats and dogs to be valued companions.

  • You can solve the problem by making your meals from scratch, like I do. As far as you having a right to think what you like, I guess you've got it. If someone disagrees with you, they are free to create a story stating their opinions.

This site is SOOOOO funny.... People need to know when to drop an unproductive discourse. It uses up too much bandwidth! :oP

It's not a dog, cat or rat. It's most likely chicken and beef, just like it says on the menu. And those cats probably didn't eat it because of the seasoning. Kitty noses are sensitive.

I hate to admit it but I have those kinda thoughts too. I think it came from seeing a chinese documentary where they eat dogs, there was a huge pot with like 6 dogs in it being boiled. Its disgusting I know and I don't believe they'd do it in the states but it does cross my mind too, its not normal though.

Highly doubtful, but it sounds as if you already have yourself convinced and are trying to convince us... Taco Bell advertised their "meat" as 88% meat filler. What is the other 12%? lol! Just saying that processed food isn't always as it seems, but cats and dogs in America... No.

    • No? Why? Because you say so? Have you visited every Chinese restaurant in America and can you give all Chinese American restaurants the "No Cat/Dog/Rat" stamp of approval? You sound like you are not too particular about what you eat and are trying to convince the rest of us that it is okay to eat these poor animals. Until you have sent meat from all of the American Chinese restaurants to a pathology lab and have gotten an ID on exactly what that mystery meat is, you really don't know what the fuck you are talking about, Miss. Considering the culture of these Chinese restaurant people in America, it would not be too far fetched for them to use cat or dog meat if they could get away with it. They would think it was no big deal and that they were doing you a favor by giving you cat or dog which is a delicacy in their culture.

First off all the Chinese restaurants I been too served mostly pork and chicken. Unless you go to a truly authentic restaurant might you get other creatures most would not normally eat.

If that is not the case the food is not going to taste exactly like the chicken you make at home because they use Asian ingredients.

I know this for a fact because I have looked up recipes for this type of chicken and it tastes exactly like the restaurants so I am pretty sure I was being fed CHICKEN and not cat. I think you are most likely just racist and pariniod. Also cats tend to be very picky and will reject a food even if they are hungry. Asian food has a lot of spices so might not be attractive to animals. You also don't KNOW its cat you are ASSUMING its cat. So you cant assume this is why the cat rejected it you fucking idiot.
