Is it normal to believe that humans living very long lives is pointless?

What's the point of living 70-100 years if you can't extend youth well into your 50s and 60s? We might as well just die in our late 50s/early 60s to preserve what little 'youth' we got. I doubt we'll ever get to the point in technology where you're not middle aged until 80 and not old until 130 (which would give us a lifespan of 160 years). While we're at it, we could extend everyone's childhood to their 20s or even 30s.

Youth is wasted on the young, anyway.
You don't need youth to enjoy life.
I love how you young people think us old folks are just sitting around wasting our lives, and your resources, waiting to die.
Dude, we've got more of everything than you do and have a lot better idea of what to do with it.
Life itself is pointless as far as I can tell; there's no rhyme or reason to it. We're just like every living creature; we're born, we procreate, we die, and the cycle continues. Oh yeah, and the great and wonderful human species soils it's home like no other creature that has ever existed. Bravo for that one, eh?

I'm sure this has been on here before but I'll reply anyway.

You seem to think life is only worth living if one still has "youth". People in their 50's 60's and 70's are quite capable of enjoying their lives AND contributing to society.

Hang about, you'll change your tune when you mature a bit.
