Is it normal to believe that if someone forgets its because it's not important?

Simply like forgetting when u organised to catch up, txt back e.c.t. is it normal that if someone constantly forgets many things it's because you're not important to them even when they claim that they genuinely forget not because it's not important or is it normal that some people just have terrible memories even when u are important to them? I'm confused since I only forget things that don't really interest me or it just isn't that important then again I do have a bad memory...

Some people just have really bad memories. Don't take it so personally.

People and their memories are different, I for example can't remember to put washing out after I put it on or can't remember to tell/ask people things, however I'm great with numbers and can remember names and faces in a pinch! Memories differ per individual, Iheartu2013 has a good idea of photographic ideas but amnesia is a condition of the brain that makes people forget also! Hopefully I've helped a little:) good luck :)

I have a really bad memory. If I could see a little better I would forget my glasses. Those are important, as ofer headaches with out them. Some people have great, even photographic memories, but some people have horrible memories.

      • That if someone forgets it's because it's not important.

People forget important things all the time. I forgot my bank account number when I needed it once, that was important lol.

        • hmm fair enough I see your point, however I'm more referring it to people more than things. Eg- Someone forgets to txt back makes me feel as if i'm unimportant when they adamantly state that their so happy I'm back in their life and that I mean a lot.

          • That's pysical action dictated by emotion, and still subject to the short term memory loss that effects all people in varying degrees.

To only forget things that are "unimportant" would mean having a subjective type of control over memory loss, but people can't control it otherwise they'd simply choose to never forget anything.

            • I think u meant- that's physical action not dictated by emotion, so in other words don't take it personally if they don't txt back because they meant what they said, right? I think I finally got it :D

            • what do u mean- 'that's physical action dictated by emotion'? but I do understand the latter part :)

I feel that way as well. It seems to me that if something is important enough that they will remember. However, it's not the case. I have remind myself that I'm taking things personally and that even I forget things that are important, so it's not a reflection of importance, it's a reflection of memory.

    • Really? even in a situation like this- when someone claims to be so happy you're back in their life and that u mean a lot, then they forget to txt back O.o It just seems to me that if they really did mean it they would be really happy/look forward to communicating like through txt or what ever and therefore would NOT forget something so trivial. I just can't agree with the assumption that it's memory...
