Is it normal to eat 700-800 calories a day?

My friend is really annoying me, tell me if I'm wrong here. She's trying to lose weight, she can't exercise because she currently has fatigue and her doctors told her to go easy on exercise and only do light yoga if anything. She said that because she has no energy and light yoga doesn't help, she needs to restrict more. I told her she's going about this an unhealthy way and needs more food in her body and she tells me that what she's doing is normal but I don't feel that way. I told her that she can still eat at least 1,100 calories and lose weight, that she doesn't need to go under 1,000 and it's ridiculous but she tells me there's nothing wrong about it.

She's been doing this for about two months now and she lost about 20 pounds.

IIN?

She's doing this the unhealthy way. If she lacks energy, she might have adrenal fatigue or there could be something else wrong with her. She should consult a doctor about her lack of energy.

    • She mentioned adrenal fatigue and that normal doctors don't say it's real...

How do you know about adrenal fatigue? I didn't even know about it. Thanks though

Silly conventional doctors. She needs to see a doctor who practices alternative medicine.

I somewhat knew about adrenal fatigue years ago, when I learned about Candida Albicans, how caffeine worsens the condition, and the effect it can have on your adrenal gland.

I really didn't learn about it until, late last year, I think. My mother has a thyroid condition and she found a site on adrenal fatigue. Apparently, the Adrenal gland resets itself at 10 PM. If you don't go to bed at ten, the body thinks that you're in danger and the adrenal gland will over work itself. This is leads to adrenal fatigue.

Adrenal fatigue is a myth sorry to burst your bubble it's been scientifically refuted and denounced by the endocrine society adrenal deficiency is real but still very rare. Low calorie diets will cause your body as well as your brain to become lethargic since your body wants to protect the few calories it is receiving so it sounds like she is causing her own problem

She's not getting enough calories in. The way to lose weight is to eat smaller portions (to feel fuller faster), in the morning (which is when your metabolism is fastest), not before bed, and cut out sugars.

I'm pretty sure the healthy minimum is 1,200. Under-eating is only going to destroy her metabolism and make it harder for her to lose weight because the body will think it's starving and will no longer burn off fat. So in other words, if she wants to stay skinny, she needs to eat.

You're right. Yeah, she needs advice from a doc or dietician. Starving herself by eating so few calories will work temporarily to lose weight, but she's losing fat and muscle and doesn't have enough fuel to be energetic. Eventually, she'll have to learn to eat right.
