Is it normal to enjoy making religious clergy feel uncomfortable?

In western countries, freedom of speech and religious tolerance are the norm. Nevertheless, evangelicals make many people feel uncomfortable. Other people enjoy making religious people uncomfortable as well. is it normal to play this game of discomfort?

Yes! I am quite embarrassed to share this compulsion, especially since my bestie is a Jesus-freak. It's so easy to fuck with people when they have a readily identifiable set of boundaries and shiny pushable buttons. It's like having a carrot dangled in front of your face. So to all you evangelical door knockers that I invited to a meeting of gay witches for abortion, I extend my most sincere apologies.

    • Ah yes, the witch hysteria of 1692 in Salem, MA. Yet another example of the sin of religion.

Having known people from many places, who have had their beliefs and wonderful cultures decimated by the Christian missionaries, and now watching the lunacy of the Muslim extremists, I can say my hate for religion has become much more deeply rooted and powerful.
It used to be that if the religious nut wasn't invading my space or bothering those I cared for, well, I'd just let them go on their merry. Now, it's almost a driving need to try to save any I can from life's one true sin; religion.

I don't know how I feel about this. These types of people probably won't learn from the experience. Clergy tend to be so deeply ingrained with their beliefs and ways. I doubt that they will change, or even realise what you're doing.

I enjoy making religious people feel uncomfortable, but only with truths that cannot be denied. If I can get them to try to explain away scientific fact "It's just God testing our faith!", or even just stall out and not have a response, I'll admit it gets my jollies off.

That said, I'm an extremely spiritual person, and believe that each individual should have a healthy relationship with themselves. I just see organized religion as human spirituality corrupted by man for the sake of greed and control. Just google The Council of Nicea.

I usually ask religious types if they have read "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. I'm not an atheist, but empiricism, logic and the scientific method are the superior way to understand the universe. Belief in this biblical crap is a happy form of ignorance.
