Is it normal to fear rabies

For some reason I fear rabies even when I know that in my country it is EXTREMELY rare! There are barely any rabid animals here.

But I fear that my unvaccinated outdoor cat might get it and bite me or someone I love.

Should I fear it? I am vaccinated agains rabies and other diseases.

Can anyone tell me that I have nothing to fear? Because I am really paranoid.

    Depends on where you live, I guess. Have you looked for stats on how common rabies is in your area?
