Is it normal to feel like a 'hypster' when telling people about what you listen

I love music. The genres I love are hardcore, but it started with punk. When somebody asks me the name and the genre, I answer and then I kind of like to know that they don't know the band nor the genre. Feeling like an 'hypster', but I don't like them :)

I can't tell if that's a misspelling of hipster, or an interesting neologism for someone who hypes things.

Nickelback are the pioneers of the punk/hardcore movement we should worship them like Godz.

I feel the same way to when I tell people I listen to hip hop and punk.. I'm assuming the punk you listen to is like uk82 stuff or street punk/ oi ?? The same with hip hop since I listen to "underground" and don't consider the crap on the radio hip hop. Not hipster just that most people listen to mainstream music..

I've heard about UK Subs only, but UK82 is familiar to me... Punk bands I listen I could say Sex Pistols, Clash or Minor Threat (hardcore). The hardcore bands are just not so known
