Is it normal to feel slow and sluggish 4 years after ankle, hip replacement

I am 63 and had R ankle fusion, followed by L hip replacement I was 59, now I am 63 and feel slower and sluggish, walking cane makes me feel 70.. I guess just accept it, but continue daily to exercise and don't over do it.

Are you sure it’s related to the replacements? Maybe it’s just a result of you getting older.

It is possible that the effects you are experiencing are related to the surgery, Especially if they installed parts as some people react to various metals and plastics. Dang hard to chase down.

Harder yet to get another round of surgery to remove and replace the offending item with a replacement item of a different material.

I hope you figure it out... and hope that you recover.

    Best wishes.

Yeah that sounds pretty good to me. Feeling sluggish can be from overdoing it but at the same time you definitely dont want to under do it. If you dont have a treadmill or stationary bike that may be something to look into. You could watch tv while you do it.

I didnt have a fusion in my ankle but I had 6 screws and 2 plates in my right ankle and that was when I was 18. It took me forever to get better from it and I was young. Id keep reinjuring it until i was atleast 23.
