Is it normal to get anger from the sound of people eating?

I hate that I feel this way, but I have no idea how to change. Whenever I hear an individual chewing with their mouth open or smacking, I having feelings of intense anger. I can't stand it. In that angered mindset I wish for anything, be it violent or not, just to make the noise stop. In reality, I either put in earphones and blast music or completely remove myself from the situation until they finish. Once they finish eating, the feeling fades completely. I don't want to tell them because I feel it is unfair to force my own mannerisms on others and that I don't want to hurt their feelings. Are these feelings of intense anger normal? Also, what could I do to stop feeling this way? Thank you for any and all advice.

    You may have Mesophonia. I've struggled with this for years, it's unbearable at times and the anger can be quite scary; Mesophonia is stronger than a simple pet peeve, as it can fill you with intense rage, to the point of tears and needing to remove yourself from any situation where you have to listen to a specific sound that you have disdain for. It's classified as a neurological disorder and there is not a lot of information, yet, regarding what specifically causes it and there is definitely no known "cure", being a neurological/psychological issue that lacks sufficient medical backing and research.

    It can become a major problem over time, as violent thoughts begin to surface, however sufferers have not been known to act on them, just endure it, which causes "tears of rage" and frustration.

    I actually have posted here about it as well;

      One thanksgiving years back i attended was probably the most horrible events ive ever experienced. The whole table was surrounded by a bunch of food processors with voices, all i could hear was the food getting squished, the slurping, crunching, gulping noises with people talking before they even swallowed whats in there mouth. I basically got up in a furry and went with my food into another room and ate, with the excuse i had a bad headache, which wouldnt have been much of an exaggeration considering id endure 20 min of repulsion.

    Everyone has their pet peeves so it is normal. And although you may get angry about it, you have done the right thing in not acting on the anger, so I applaud you.

    I know this isn't very nice, but when people eat loudly with their mouths open I have a tendency to wish they would choke.

    I honestly feel like satan manifest himself into my soul when i have the displeasure of baring listening to the sound of people eating particularly those who cant keep there mouth fucking closed when they eat. If your going to keep your mouth open the whole fucking time you consume anything then go get a cowbell and wonder off into a field and chew grass with all the other farm animals. Then theres people with the audacity to dare talk to you when there eating, thats really pushing it whether i act on my frustration or tell the person to piss off and then just leave the scene. Anywho; thats about how i feel about that.

    Sometimes I really lose it if I am eating and someone around me is chewing with their mouth open. It's quite disgusting and also makes obnoxious noises. If a parent hasn't taught their children to eat properly in public, then they are failures as parents. If someone knows this rule (chew with your damn mouth closed) and chooses to ignore it, then they are failures as civilized human beings.
    Discourteous louts.
