When I went to log in, the thing said my username was invalid (even though it was right and the password was right). I had to sign in to a new account I made. IIN?

OKAY SO RANDOM STORY
I recently got locked out of Tumblr. Just got the new account two days before since I needed a new start.
Go to change password, insert the password. 'password already used, pick a new one'.
Password I was entering was the one I'd JUST TRIED TO LOG IN WITH TEN MINUTES BEFORE....
Never doubt the stupidity of databases... I'm an IT professional. It doesn't matter how solidly you know the password. It's still not gonna work.
there are a lot of sick disgusting people and their comments and posts that don't get banned and are allowed right thru when other people that aren't nearly as bad are banned and denied. go figure.
Honestly, I don't even remember my password for this site. I just never log out... and have to use this certain computer... and could potentially lose my account forever...
