Is it normal to get mad when referred to by name?

Any time someone says my name in the way of ending a sentence, it makes me angry. Like, no matter what we were taking about, I can only take their statement as condescending and suddenly I'm furious.
Say my name is John Smith.
"John, why did you choose that one?"
"I'm not sure I understand, John."
"Are you sure that's how you do it, John?"
The same goes for being called hun, sweetie, or dear. It just feels degrading. Is that weird?

Yes it's weird. Getting furious at people over this is a great way to chase them away.

I despise when people call me hun sweetie or dear. It seems contrived and yes condescending.

I hate when Certain family members say my name aloud in public, especially around others. Pisses me off like no other! Friends can say this and it's fine. I don't know, in general, it makes me feel awkward having to state my name in public since some of my peers used to treat me badly over it. I think you are normal. Just talk to them about it. Don't necessarily state that it ticks you off, say that it makes you very uncomfortable.
