Is it normal to go college with no goal in mind and because my parents want me to?
Fresh out of highschool with no idea wtf I'm doing, what I even want to do, or any motivation. School has taught me nothing.

Unfortunately this is the norm. A lot of people go to college regardless of knowing what they really want to do just so they're not shamed for not going by their peers/family. Some actually find their calling but most end up dropping out. If you really aren't sure then I would suggest taking a break until you figure it out. There's no sense in wasting thousands of dollars or making yourself miserable in the process. Your classmates will be too focused on themselves to care and your family will understand eventually. Remember: there's no one path to success, we all make our own way
I wish colleges would have an "Introduction to College 101" type course. I would go and talk to a guidance coucilor at the college and talk it over with them.
That must be the most common thing ever. You're not the first and certainly not the last :)
Go to a cheap community college and learn Computer Science or Accounting/Finance. Jobs requiring these majors will pay enough to recover your investment in tuition. If you don't like it, save your money and drop out. Find something else you enjoy doing.
You are in common shoes.
Even the h.s. grads that seem to have their shit together, probably still don't have a clue what they want to do. They're just playing like a cog in the wheel, hoping it will all go well. No surprise, I guess. They're fed so much bullshit! Good grief, you have got to be able to read between the lines.
I don't know, if your parents are paying for it all in CASH, you could go. Waste their money if they insist. But, if you do go to school, don't blow it away. If anything, do something practical that will indeed be a productive option for you to earn a living. If no one has told you this yet, undergrad is just the first step. You pretty much have to go to grad school nowadays, too.
Overall, college has become the great big scam rip off. It's also a gatekeeper to a lot of jobs. But, in the real world, connections and your experience matter most.
Since you are just out of h.s. why not take what's known as a gap year. Do a bunch of things for a year to see what you like, or seems like a good fit for you.
Why? If it fills an elective or course requirement, do it. A grade is a grade as long as it gets everything completed. If anything, these courses are an easy A to keep your GPA high.
But, lol, having sat through a gender studies class, omg, tune out much of the b.s. the professor, or typical of colleges being cheap these days, the poor, underpaid adjunct lecturing your class.
Gotta say, sociology can be quite interesting. You may even be able to use it if you ever do something like public relations, or anything where you look at a ton of demographic data. Maybe you will go into marketing. You don't really need a class to do this, but it helps.
Parents wanted me to go to college also but I didn't want to. I just go to 2hr evening classes at a local Secondary school to further my education a little more and it's only $300 so it's not a waste of money. Dunno if the US does those sorta classes but most likely.
No idea what you're studying but, information technology is the hot hot hot thing to be doing. If not that, finance is another one.
Not a bad idea to dabble though. Take courses that appeal to you for the heck of it. That's what Steve Jobs did.
yes all over the USA we have locals , we call then colleges instead of universities . i have three university degrees if you want one. My parents didnt spend a fucking quid on my degrees . BTW i lived in england until 1967 and me dad went bankrupt buying out the crapper company.
Yeah, do it just like me, give in to the pressure and waste 50k of their money, and drop out of school.
