Is it normal to go from rocket scientist to tattoo artist?

Is it normal to go from wanting to take the path of science to better the world to wanting to be a tattoo artist? From early on in my teens science was my passion. Chemistry, physics, engineering... I loved it all. I dreamt of being an aerospace engineer (rocket scientist). For awhile, I was sure of my future. But then, unexpectedly, my passion for science died like a flame doused with water. Then another flame was lit when I had gotten my third tattoo (I was 16 or 17) - I wanted to become a tattoo artist. I wanted to create art on a living canvas. Tattoos are still my passion today. How does one go from wanting a steady, well paying job that contributes to the future of humanity to wanting to dig in people's skin with a needle?

I would say that if there's one thing wrong with this world, it's that there's not enough people willing to tattoo others. If I were to say another thing that's wrong with this world it's that there's way to many people studying science.

Nothing wrong with that dude, when I was 17 I dropped out of school to do a tattoo apprenticeship. It didn't work out because my boss was family and they were also extremely corrupt, but nevertheless it was my absolute dream for a while.

If you're going to do an apprenticeship though, be prepared. Its difficult, and expensive. You train for 3 years before putting ink into skin, and you are an apprentice tattooer for two years before your job as an artist begins. Its a lot of hard work, but worth it in the end.

If that's your dream, chase it and don't give up until you get it. I gave up on my dream because it was just impossible to persue it anymore. My life changed drastically since then, for the better, so I'm more than content with life now, but if its your dream you should go for it.

  • Idk dude that's just badass. You should post your artwork on your profile. Having absolutely no artistic talent myself I love to admire the works of others

I've got one, it's black and it's the original design, slightly different to the one on the flag but it is a Welsh dragon. If you want a pic let me know.
