Is it normal to grow out one of your pinky nails so you can dig out ear wax?

    I just use a baby finger...got a whole jar full by the bed.

    How about buying a pack of Q tips instead of using a nasty car key or finger nail?

    True fact, once when I was living alone in a part of the country far distant from family and friends, I let the last fingernail on my right hand (I'm left handed) grow out a full five-eighths of an inch. It was freaky, I couldn't even close my right hand into a fist with such a long fingernail.

    A friend of mine came down to visit me (a day and a half's drive) and I had to keep my finger folded against my palm so he couldn't see my long fingernail, and it was a total freakout. Like I was constantly afraid he'd see and realize what kind of a freak I was.
