Is it normal to hate it when girls use their periods as excuse to be assholes?

Girls definitely have more hormones and what not going on during your periods, but like.. it doesn't mean you have to be rude bitches.. there is a difference between being moody and just plain being an ugly cunt, and like even my sisters use their periods as an excuse to be assholes to people, and it's not cool. Fucking pisses me off, is that normal?

It's normal to be annoyed, yes. But honestly, sometimes it's really hard to control... really. You can hear yourself being really snappy and unreasonable, but it's like you can't stop it. And sometimes you just feel so miserable as well. It's not fun. So bear in mind that a lot of girls are probably not enjoying the fact they're being so cranky and are actually feeling pretty bad about it. And it's not personal. Also, don't ask a girl to confess that she's feeling bad about being a bitch when she has pmt... that would be like 10/10 on the irritating scale. Don't go there! lol. Sometimes a small breeze is enough to make you want to punch a wall. Yeah, it's a bit messed up, I can see that.

Lol; this whole thread made me laugh. Basically you are asking 'why can't girls just stick a tampon in it and be nice?!' ~~~ haha. Let me circumsize your dick with my teeth and you can be nice to me too. Men.

Try flooding so much, you are housebound for 4 days. Try having pain so excruciating, it makes you vomit and unable to do anything except curl up in a heap- not even able to sleep because of it. And try having a two week run up to it like described above!

I am not making excuses for those who use it as an excuse to be obnoxious. But when one is so run down by it for such a prolonged time (sleep deprivation and pain) and experiences sackings from work because of it, then I defy anyone to have the physical or mental strength to be "nice!"

Being a woman, I completely sympathize with you about how bad your menstrual cramps are, but if it's interfering with your life (i.e. causing you to lose a job, etc), why don't you talk to your doctor about what options you have to improve your symptoms?

I realize there's the possibility that you already have, but I have no way of knowing for sure. If you haven't spoken to a doctor and are still experiencing these problems, you should look into birth control. I used to have excruciating pain during my period but once I started taking the pill the pain was reduced to minor cramps on the first day of my period. Of course, it may not work for everyone, but if you haven't tried it, you should think about it (unless of course it goes against any sort of religious beliefs, morals, etc, that you may have, in which case I hope you can find something that will help, such as a herbal remedy or something!)

To the guy who asked the question - I agree! I can understand why some women would be a little bit crabby during their time of the month, but some people take it too far and use it as an excuse to treat others with blatant disrespect. However, there is a condition called PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder)that can cause severe mood swings in women during PMS, as well as many symptoms similar to depression, so try and be sensitive when dealing with cranky women, because they may actually be suffering from a real problem that is out of their control. Just a thought!

The gfs I've had never felt like puking and what not during their period. Some even wanted sex right then.

Sex can relieve cramps- or make them worse. Depends on the girl.

I use acupuncture and massage for my gf. There are a few meridians in the hips and in the tail bone that are great at relieving menstrual cramps and fatigue. Also ones in the ears for stress associated with PMDD. Combined with midol and a nice big tasty dab, usually works wonders for the bitchiness associated with being on the rag.

Agreed! I hope OP doesn't get a girlfriend, assuming that OP is a man. Who knows, maybe it's a girl who just doesn't get PMS.

My best friend had a hysterectomy because she hated having a period so much. I don't know whether it's "normal" to get angry at women on their period, but have a little sympathy or, failing that, do what I do and be grossly offensive. You know, make jokes about Dracula or Midol.

Interestingly enough, women in third world countries do not get PMS. It seems that it is behavior learned by girls from their mothers and only in western civilization.
    Ain't civilization great?

You don't usually care about cramps when you're starving and you basically sleep on dirt.

I honestly cringed at the ignorance displayed by your comment.
I am from a 'third world' country (ironically, a scale made by americans to rate countries that are not America). PMS is unique to everyone, some people get them and some people don't. I have absolutely no PMS symptoms during my period and no pain, yet on the other hand my friend gets so nauseated and cries during her period.
Another friend of mine also has no PMS symptoms but her mother has to take a day off from work because hers are so bad. You can not 'learn' pain, nausea and PMS you fool.
Your argument is based on half truths and whole lies. If you have nothing to say of importance, rather keep your mouth shut because you're just making yourself look stupid.

What argument? I didn't make this stuff up, nor is it an opinion of mine. I have read several studies over the years that have made this statement. Your few personal acquaintances are not enough of a cross section of any population to be of any value to any intelligent conversation; they are totally anecdotal, PERIOD!
Of course, being a guy and having absolutely no vested interest in this subject (other than a wife from the jungles of Guatemala that never had PMS), to call me a fool and be derogatory to me personally is wholly a factor of a lack of intelligence and conviction.
Whether you are right or these studies are, you have shown yourself to be a completely classless individual.

A few people out of millions is hardly a basis for any judgement. With his command of English, I find it hard to believe slimm could possibly have much familiarity with the uneducated masses that these studies relate to.

"Many researchers have also put forth the theory that PMS is caused primarily by cultural factors"
"Premenstrual syndrome as a Western culture-specific disorder."
        -Thomas M. Johnson
Do a little reading before you spout drivel. I hate to be so forthright, but really, how can you make a statement like; "they are human and they get PMS".

There are some periods that I just do not need to be around people at all. I get antisocial and easily offended and snap at people without meaning to. I literally think the world is against me. I cannot even fake a smile sometimes during PMS. The only person I exaggerate it with is my boyfriend because I hate when he passes off my complaints as PMS, so I'm all like "Hah! I'll show you PMS bitch!" But I'm generally a nice person.

Being moody is a natural thing and they just can't handle other people's shit. It's not that they don't try to be calm and be nice to you, they might just have enough of your shit and be an ass to you.(This wasn't mean to be rude)

I agree... Lots of women have periods but not all of them are dicks about it. Some might ask you leave them alone for awhile because of it. However I do not see that as an excuse to be a fucking lunatic bitch. Just like hitting puberty in high-school does not give you a right to beat up a kid on camera and post it online. If you are simply a dick your a dick.

I really don't mean to be so crazy, even when I go off ranting(or yelling at someone), in my head I'm like wtf is my problem? Then I cry and apologize and go back to killer cramps and nausea. :/

Hormones do affect your mood a lot. My sister's gynecologist said the hormones can make your brain swell and that's why some women are so miserable. If you have digestive issues, monthly hormones wreak havoc. But I don't think people should discuss their periods. I think people should just give others space and be nice when they can tell someone is in a bad mood. The woman can try taking supplements like magnesium in the morning and calcium at night, and start taking ibuprofen a week before the cycle starts. These things can make a huge difference. But sometimes you just need to lie down and elevate your legs and sleep. You can't do that when you're in school or working, so it's annoying. And schools don't allow a girl the time to switch out her pads and clean up. That should be allowed because it's not her fault. The only supplies they ever made that could get a girl through a school day without changing were those old Rely tampons that they outlawed.

I never understood why women are expected to be bitches at that time of the month, I never was. I think that it`s just an excuse for nasty women to be even more nasty.

It's easier to get pissed off when you're having digestive problems that won't go away. But it seems like anger runs in your family. Maybe she just hates you. That would make the feeling mutual, wouldn't it?

Agreed! We live in such overcrowded, polluted, toxic environments, physically and mentally, that it's no wonder something so exquisitely sensitive to many levels of consciousness should end up causing us problems. And then we call it "the curse" just to compound the issue! The doctrine of original sin has created a severe wound in the collective psyche in my opinion.
