I despise religion! I think it has held humanity's progress back for centuries, even millennia! I especially despise when religion gets involved in politics, for instance, all US presidents have to be really into 'God' or they'll never get elected! It's retarded in my opinion - like believing in Santa or the tooth fairy!
The universe magically appearing out of nowhere is a lot less likely than there being a god.
But then where did that god come from? He must've appeared out of nowhere. Or has he always existed in which case there was no beginning? That sounds just as weird as there being a beginning. But all this is us just engaging in stoner talk. What does the actual evidence point to? The universe beginning 13.8 billion years ago in a Big Bang.
Some real stoner talk, what if our universe is just like a cell of something really huge, like 99% of a cell is empty and most of space is empty, and it's almost like a kaleidoscope of realities based on size, sort of like a fractal
We've already found the smallest particles "proven" to exist, supposedly, and we see an indirect correlation between the micro and macro worlds, and we start with like the first, second, and third dimension, which we are in, which a flat line to a circle to a sphere implies broadening perception (or stepping back for a bigger view, or increasing size)
And like the plants that absorb sunlight and produce nutrients for living entities to ingest and absorb, there might be some intrinsic design to life at this scale influencing/impacting a reality on a scale that makes our universe seem infinitesimal
And physics for example and the Fibonacci sequence and other like sacred geometry type things, at the quantum level observation/assessment/acknowledgement of things can decide certain things (like the double slit experiment) and while I don't believe in a traditional God, I could believe there's some force perhaps (like mother nature, but not a sentient being more like "path of least resistance" protocol woven into the fabric of reality as it was born [big bang]) that controls or observes possibly all scales of existence, even like the atoms that make up a rock, something is measured somewhere (and not just in our human minds) that determines if a smashed rock will crumble or not
Disagree. The processes at work in the universe are well understood and we can track the history of the universe back to a 'big bang' - at which point our scientific models break down, I'll admit.
Its normal to hate religion.
I used to be a very religious person until when I grew up I stopped because I started to despise it a lot more.
It's not ideal, but the alternative is bad as well, if not worse. Look at what's taken its place in this new age of a dying god.

I took an Intro to Religion class in college. We learned a lot about why people believe in religion. A lot of the time people turn to religion for a sense of safety or purpose. Early human history suggests the earliest people turned to Animism (basically attributing spiritual forces to nature). A lot of religion is not proven, but it also comforts some people. I think it’s normal but you shouldn’t ‘hate’ people because they believe in something you don’t. For many, it’s comforting to find purpose in life through a higher force. In addition, religion can be used very toxically and the world is continuing to experience that to this day.
Its depressing to just up and believe nothing exists for a reason. Paradoxically you have to believe in something not existing. Who the fuck knows what cosmic entity exists out there? As an agnostic I dont actually know what's out there but I hate the atheist notion that theres nothing. We dont have proof either way.
Sure the more extreme religions chop your head off for blasphemy but their civilization doesnt really get off the ground when it comes to mathematics and hard science compared with other non stoning to death criminals countries.
The largely non violent ones are better off to exsist in the greater society since good will is a sign of a good person. As in better donations to the poor.
Yep fuck the Christian's for building those wells in africa. Sure some foundations just take it and fuck off, but some dont and genuinely want to help said people.

I think there is, to a degree, nothing wrong with it. I prefer pagan religions, they are generally peaceful and open minded but I respect everyones religious beliefs as long as they're good people. It's obnoxious though when someone is so hardcore into their religion that they think they know better than everyone and constantly shoves it down everyones throat. I think personal beliefs are private. If believeing a certain thing is something which really benefits your life and helps you forward then it's not something you need to go on about to prove how superior you are, or use it as an excuse to spread hate. Unfortunately people do that though. I don't think it should be such a big deal really. Let everyone have their belief but in private, preferably.
You have the right to believe however you so choose about this issue, but so does everyone else.
