Is it normal to hate when people ask for a simple answer when it doesn't work?

Is it normal I hate when people ask for a simple answer for things that are not simple? I mean I understand some things need to be explained in terms all people could understand. Like you cant talk geek speak to someone who doesn't know enough about that subject. If you do you are going to have to explain the terms/phrases you are using.

However some things just are not simple and would never be. I also hate when people ask you something about yourself or your opinion and say "You talk to much". If you did not want to listen to what someone had to say why bother asking them to elaborate?

I don't understand what people expect. If someone asks the different between a browser(chrome) and window 8 you are going to have to explain it. You cant make that anymore simple than explaining what a browser is. saying "Its broke" or "Its not broke" is not an accurate description if one of the browsers is not working.

If you can't explain it simply, maybe you don't understand it well enough. Or you are dealing with a stubborn person who refuses to acknowledge gray areas.

    • If you are trying to explain what is wrong with a computer you cant just say "Its broke" or "Its not broken". Since there is a difference between ruined, broken, not programmed correctly, and malfunctioning.

If the browser is down but the other browsers work its not broken there is a issue with the browser and it can be fixed. If a virus completely destroyed it well that computer is pretty much ruined, if the port is busted the computer is broken.

The browser not working does not mean its broken and you have to get a new computer. There could be a virus or something in the computer that is malfunctioning but if the rest of the computer works its still a functioning computer.

Sure you can. I do it all the time. I constantly get blamed for "breaking the internet" at work. We all know it's not technically broken. If the boss wants to feel like he's involved we give him the details in a way to make him stop asking stupid questions.

Know your audience. Usually, when people ask if something is broken, they want to know if it can be fixed. They don't need an philosophical debate on the concept of broken.

        • Apparently that is not how it works. Broken apparently means something is currently not working. Even if its something that is easy to fix. If your browser is not working its not broken. Stuff like this is often not incredibly hard to fix. Minor issues are repairable, major issues are more difficult.
