Is it normal to have a fractured l4 in your back

I had a back injury two years ago that had me bed ridden for a week. I returned to work and worked everyday. Today I just so happened to be at the doctor getting a refill of medication and i mentioned how I have terrible back pain to this day. They said we have an xray machine would you like to take an Xray, I said yes. The doctor comes in the room with a surprised look on her face and says I have a fractured L4 and its bad. Apparently I may need surgery. Im looking at the Xray picture and it looks worse than the google pictures of the same fracture. I cant afford to take any days off, I almost dont even want to go back to the doctor. Has anyone ever had this? Im young, not even 30 yet.

You know this isn't normal. Your doctor didn't even expect it.

It is way, way worse. And 29 is old for a spine injury to heal quickly.
If you don't rest and fix your back, you may lose your mobility and even get paralysed.
You have to afford days off.
