It isn't a when, it's a what. Midlife is a misnomer. The crisis one feels is more of an existential experience. You usually feel your first around 27 where you metaphorically shake the foundations of the life you built. It either stands, or it doesn't. Double that and the lesson gets a little more intense. At this point your world view is bigger and you have more life experience to draw from. Has it been a good life? Can you do better? Watching people suffer is never easy. At least, it shouldn't be.
But the news is intended to upset you. Take a break for a few days.
All I can see in this question is that math: Hope you make it to 130!!
Rooting for you, old man! :D
Midlife at 65 implies that you are going to live to 130. Caring about was happens in other countries is normal but unless it effects your own country you shouldn't let it cause you excessive amounts of stress.
You can have a crisis at any age. I second the advice to take a break from the news for a few days and turn off your news notifications on your phone if you have them on. There’s lots of pressure to be constantly plugged in but sometimes you have to prioritise your well-being.
