Is it normal to have baby kittens in the garden and then they disappear ?

I have a garden cat that recently had baby kittens , anyways i only saw them for one day ,they were in an exposed area in our garden, then the following day i didn't see them ? , the mother didn't come to our garden , then after a couple of days i saw the mother (alone without her babies in the garden ) , is it normal for this to happen ?

Maybe, the garden gnomes took them hostage?

Catnapping aside, why didn't you take them inside? They could've gotten lost, hit by a car, pick up by ASAP or maybe the mother left them at her home.

Maybe the mother cat went somewhere else with the kittens? That's the only explanation I can think of. And why didn't you take them inside? They would've been safer there.

  • It's normal, she probably moved them, mother cats do that a lot to stop predators from finding them.

Either she moved them to a safer location, ate them, or something care along and ate them.
    Either way.

Well hell that's just depressing! Seems like evolution would have gotten rid of that little trait!

Mother animals quite often eat their babies if there's something wrong with them. xx

Yes it's normal. It's called "survival of the fittest". If the helpless newborn kittens are completely missing it's very likely they were eaten by other animals.

Not sure if it's normal or not, but it's definatly cute. How many were there? what colours were they? xxx

  • I'm going to guess that someone with a pet snake found them.
