Is it normal to have imaginary conversations with those you can't talk to?

when I want to talk to someone but can't because they're out of reach, I end having emaginary conversations with that person in my head. like this:-
1-think about what I wanna say
2-think about a possible reply from the person
3-think about what I'm gonna say
etc etc
after getting started, I let the voice of those people say their part of the conversation.
is this normal?

Yep. Unfortunately, whenever the actual topic of discussion comes up, It turns out rather different, and I sometimes get messed up with what was real, and what was imaginary.

I do this all the time. Especially with people I'd like to get to know better etc.

Don't know about normal, but I do it all the time. It's called rehearsing and I had to do it a lot as a kid. It's the only way I ever won any religious debates with my bible-thumping mother...

I do this too. I feel it is necessary because it's just preparation for when you finally do speak to that person, cause you'll know what you want to say and even what you shouldn't say cause their response may not be a good one since you've already thought about it.
