Is it normal to have more books than you'll ever read?

For years now, I've been buying more books than I'll ever read. Every time I go to the second-hand store, I buy a few. I have 25 books checked out from the library and I've ordered 10 more through them, but I haven't finished all the ones that I have. I sold close to 100 just a year ago and I keep accumulating more. I read a lot, but I can never match the pace at which I purchase them.

    I'm not quite that bad, but I have fortyish books on my "to read" shelf.

      I have about 20. Sadly I am forced to read the same kids book over and over and over...I cant wait until this phase is over and I can read other books.

        I used to know Dr Suess' ABCs and Ten Little Fingers And Ten Little Toes off by heart. I remember most of TLF but only know Where Is The Green Sheep well enough now. And have managed to find the perfect monotone that lets me speed through Frozen at quite an impressive pace.

    I wouldn't worry about it, there are worse things to hoard.

    Entirely normal: I am sure you have friends or family members with 'too many' shoes, CDs, clothes, china rabbits, etc etc

    This happens to me to. I have several books I've had for years which I still haven't read. When I check out books from the library I don't get around to reading most of them. I always thought I was the only one who did this.

    I would like to have a big library full of books. I don't like reading, but I like the idea of being surrounded by books.
