Is it normal to have repetitive dreams/chose what you want to dream about?

When I was younger I would have this dream of me going to the park with my babysitter and I would take a pocket knife and cut the climbing rope opens and then I would see a cave behind it so I would walk threw and at the first turn I would see A bunch of skeleton sitting beside a fire I wait till they look at me then I would run out I would then stand on the swing as then all gathered around me . This dream would happen every week or so but as I got older I still remembered every detail to the dream the colors, the cave details everything and I would be sitting in my bed thinging back to that dream and then I would miss the dream or just wanna remember it again so I would tell myself " I wanna dream about this again" and then I would and it was always the same down to the last detail , it wasn't like a day dream thing I would acctally be sleeping I'm not sure if I can still dream about that on my own will I just was thinking about how I used to be able to I haven't tryed doing it .

I've heard a lot of people say that if they focus on what they want to dream about as they're drifting off they tend to end up dreaming about it, never really had it but last night I fell asleep on the couch while someone was watching new girl, briefly thinking of zooey and ended up having a sex dream about zooey deschanel, which panicked me as I woke up, I've been known to sleep talk.....

    Got side tracked

It may take some time but as you're going to sleep keep the dream in your mind, picture it, remember how it felt and eventually, hopefully you should have it :)

Choosing what to dream has a name, but I can't remember it this early in the morning. It's totally normal and common.

I had a couple of recurring nightmares as a child which totally terrified me, I can't remember when they stopped but I'm glad they did - I can still remember them 60 years later, they were so intense.

I sometimes ask for answers to problems when I'm dropping off to sleep and a fair proportion of the time I'll have an answer when I wake up even if I don't remember a dream about it.

I've also had a couple of dreams which accurately foretold unlikely future events

When I was younger, I used to have a reoccurring nightmare that I would have atleast once a year, and they kept happening until we moved to a new house.
