Is it normal to have the same nightmare several nights in a row?

For the past three nights I've woken up just before dawn (around 4:50AM) every morning drenched in sweat from this dream of me driving alone down this rickety bridge in the middle of a giant body of water (I can't see any shores). The bridge is only a few inches above the water, and it's very dark, with heavy clouds above, and in the distance there are ominous waves heading toward me. I always get up JUST before my car is swept away.

I can't shake the dream. Three nights in a row! Anyone else have the SAME nightmare multiple nights in a row? (And what'd you do to end it?)

I did as a kid but it hasn't happened in a long time. I didn't do anything to end it they just stopped. Might have been caused by stress or some thing and then what ever was stressing me stopped so the dreams stopped. Sorry your having nightmares I don't feel well rested when I have bad dreams. Mostly my bad dreams are about having to do some thing impossible like you must read this 3000 page book by tomorrow or you must solve this math problem and the math is way more complicated than I ever learned stuff like that not monsters or axe murders or even rickety bridges.

Hey, thanks for your input. I don't know why you were down-voted. I thought your comment was insightful and helpful--and I'm the original poster/questioner, by the way.

Anyhow, I hadn't thought of that--that maybe something going on in my life is creating the dream. And you're right that the nightmares happen more often when I'm up VERY late and have to get up very early. I'm going to do what I can to get to bed tonight at least by midnight to see if that helps.

Again, thanks for your comment. It was really helpful. And btw, I'd be out of my mind if I had to read a 3000 page book by tomorrow, too!

I'm being trolled but some one that doesn't like my opinions on certain subjects and they apparently channel that impotent rage into a down vote campaign.

I used to compete competitively in gynmastics and it was when I was approaching the junior elite level that they peaked. Once I got over that hump my self confidence was better and I didn't worry near as much at how well I'd do. And I haven't had really bad nightmares since... Well a little when I was preparing for college but that was a small bump in the road.

Sorry 'bout your trolling issue, but I think most people will react like me and give you feedback based on what you've shared with us. So thanks again, and good luck!

Yes, I have had nightmares for several nights that were the same dream. I think it's pretty normal and it happens to some people. I fortunately, don't remember mine but I remember how I felt afterwards. I hope it goes away. <3
