Is it normal to know you need to lose weight but be unable to do so?

I've been coerced into dieting since 12 and have had people commenting on my "stocky" and "chubby" build. I was a mere 6lbs over the BMI max and BMI is bullshit because it doesn't take people's builds into account properly.

I follow a mix of body positive accounts (some of which include people being proud of fat bellies; scars; disfigurement and/or disability) and more fashion-based accounts which may or ay not be so body positive.

On one hand I feel like I'm sticking two fingers up at society by being my current size, but I also know there are way more pros to being smaller than there are cons. If Rebel Wilson can lose weight and people on my Instagram feed can be plus-sized and fearsomely strong or candidly share their journey with Saxenda or show their journey pre and post gastric band, why can't/won't I do anything?

Where I live with and who I live with dont exactly help but hey

The weight charts can be off a lot. I'm also one where they don't match my ideal weight at all (when I was extremely fit in high school).

However, there is so much bad information out there on diets and much of the food in the grocery stores is best described as "food like substances that you body cannot properly digest without problems." All fake stuff in them create problems.

It's healthier to buy basic food items and cook a meal from them than all the stuff with a long list of other additives.

I also suggest that you look at the Keto diet, or even the Carnivore diet. Those really do work and get you back to the kind of diet that our bodies evolved with (principally animal based foods, with some plant based foods added for most of he worlds population).

Keto diet in now officially recommended for diabetics. It works very well.

Along with diet - you need at least modest exercise (walking works, and anything you add to that helps as long as you don't over do it).

I wish you well with this...

I was 310 lb's at my biggest, lost 20 of that when I started training at my local MMA gym & will flux between 285 & 295 randomly to this day. The only time I've lost any more than 5 lb's after that was when I went 2 & a half weeks without eating & only drinking water. I only lost 12 lb's & went back to eating what I want.

Fasting has always worked for me. I've shifted all my baby weight every time within 6 months just by doing intermittent fasting.

It's not for everyone, of course, but it works well for me because I find it removes all focus on food and changes my habits in a way that nothing else does. You have to find what works for you - there will be something.

Gaining weight is easy but losing it is kinda hard.

What I do to keep in shape is I drink lots of water have something small I go for walks for at least 19,000-25,000 steps with my trusty pedometer and I walk back. They are good exercise for your legs and I would also recommend working on your torso by using things like weights they are extremely good for weight loss too.

Any part of the human body can absorb energy. You can throw your dinner in the bathtub and just lay in it for a while if you want.

If you’re young you’ll probably be alright health wise, weight doesn’t really reflect your health that much. I eat loads and my diet is absolutely shit and I still don’t go over 105lbs
