Is it normal to learn feelings from fictional characters?

I never really had "feelings" for real people, I have thoughts like "they're nice, be nice to them, make them happy" etc. but no real feelings of excitement for things in the real world. Every thing is boring to me and so I prefer fictional worlds instead. But nowadays my feelings for fictional characters are starting to leak into reality, but only for things that are similar/remind me of the fictional world. I feel bursts of excitement while consciously in the "real world", but it's only because things remind me of the fictional ones that I prefer. Is that normal?

I guess it's a question of proportion. The world you spend more time in is the one you compare things to. You'd probably be capable of developing "feelings" for real people if you spent as much time with them as you do with the fictional ones.
When you read a book or watch a movie you become a very intimate spectator of some characters life. It takes years to get this close to a real person. It's worth it though, as most of them are more complex than even the best written fiction.

Yes, aaand no. I'm personally better able to explore feelings in a fictional environment and feel "more vividly" if that makes sense. I have also had those direct links between people and fictional characters that have triggered those vivid feelings. However, I have not noticed too much of a margin of emotional strength except for those very charged scenes. I feel that it is good that these emotional connections are forming, and that you should find more of these.
