Is it normal to leave a bloody mess behind in the ladies room at work?

When I pull out my tampon while straddling the toilet (on a heavy flow day) the blood dumps out and half of it ends up on the seat, floor, wall, etc. I don't know how to slide it out without having it splash everywhere. Normal?

    By straddling the toilet, do you mean normal sitting or are you perched on it like you're doing the 3rd world country poop squat? If so, there's your problem. Sit on your ass, then remove the tampon. Any extra stuff will just land in the bowl.

    I have toilet paper in one hand and the other hand removes the tampon slowly. I catch anything that dumps out with the toilet paper before it has a chance to make a mess.
