I like this girl at work but I'm too shy to approach her. She is probably a few years younger than me. She works either in sales/HR or accounting, and I work in IT, so we never meet during work, only sometimes at lunch and when I'm walking thru the halls occasionally I will see her. I have my own closed group of people I talk to at work and they all work in IT like me, I don't feel comfortable talking to people from other departments. I really want to talk to her but I feel shy, awkward, and uncomfortable. I feel like she is so pretty, attractive, and outgoing so she probably has a boyfriend so in that case I would just like to be a friend if that's possible. But I feel like my work buddies might laugh at me if I try.

    Don't pay any attention to the jerks putting you down for being shy, but you've got to grow out of your shell. Start by making small talk, and what always is a winner is a compliment. Tell her she has a nice dress, pretty hair or eyes, anything. If she's at all interested, it'll light her up.

    I seriously doubt your work buddies or anyone else will think any less of you. The way I see it, you have two choices: Make an effort and give yourself a chance, or don't try at all and have no chance. Rejection is one thing, but there's no excuse for not trying at all.

    A lot of people are too intimated to approach a girl they don't know because it's just an awkward, uncomfortable situation. Confidence is a mindset, but it's up to you.
