Is it normal to like gory/ disturbing anime?

i've recently realised that i've developed a weird liking for gore and/or disturbing anime. the mentally harsh ones, the really bloody ones. its not that i like looking at them, but i think those have a slightly better stories than the usual ones(?)
and also manga. i'm talking about killing stalking, evangelion series, another, elfen lied and been wanting to look at more.
i really dont understand why i like them.

    It is normal to like good story telling and complex characters who have deep stories and an interesting past, so i would say yeah, if that's what u like sure, why not.

    (Personally found killing stalking very interesting, i really wanted to find out why sangwoo was the way he was)

      oh its a whole journey honestly, i have (unintentionally) kept on researching more and more about him, and it always feels like i know something new about him every single time.
