Is it normal to miss blockbuster this much?

I just miss the days of walking into a nice clean store filled with the scent of dvds (and if your real old school VHS's) and popcorn and looking up the rows of movies to see what I wanted to rent. I didn't always go in with a movie in mind, sometimes I just went in just for the sake of going in and seeing I'd be interested in anything, and if not, there was no loss. Oh the good ole' days of looking through the dvds and being able to pick it up in its physical form, take it to the counter, and it was your for the next two the five days. I even miss trying to hurry to get it back in on its deadline. Sure, streaming is convenient, and if your internet is good it's pretty cheap and easy way to catch the latest releases just when they're released, but nothing can replace the warmth of a nice building that offers you whatever movie you've been longing to see regardless of how old it is. The large packages of gummy worms and bears that I'd pick up every time I rented a movie, you don't get that anymore.

I miss Blockbuster!

I remember back when I was kid, the Blockbusters had Pokemon Snap stations where people could print out stickers. I also remember even further back when they had this taping thing where parents could take their kids there to get filmed answering basic questions about their favorite thing. I have no idea what happened to the tape of me. It was bad early 90's quality anyway. lol I remember as a teen I would go there with my sis to kill time after school. We'd look at DVDS and pick out which ones we thought were good. If only Blockbuster didnt make such bad business decisions. Then maybe they'd still be around.

Yessss. I feel the same way.

I miss book stores too. I know they still exist, but they're not nearly as common. I used to love spending hours in Barnes and noble or borders...

    • We still have a Barns and Nobles in our area. I appreciate it's still there every time I walk into it. Heard that they were gonna close it down though :'( Hopefully not.

Mine is still alive but barely hanging on. I try and support it as much as I can but there's only so many movies one can watch lol its like my sanctuary up there and I'm going to miss it like a dead friend.

    • Wow! There are only I think 50 or so Blockbusters left. Consider yourself lucky for the time being.

It's normal, I miss it just as much as HMV. Cheap DVDS and they also had a buffer machine which they don't charge you for when you purchase a DVD unlike CEX. CEX is the only store where you can buy various movies both new and pre-owned but I get so annoyed when they sell DVDS covered in scratches and dirt yet they refuse to buy any pre-owned DVDS that already have scratches. They also buy your DVDS for a cheap price then sell it for a higher price. This is why I love and miss Blockbusters, also it was fun working there, the staff were always friendly.

I agree. You can't find just any random movie you want to watch any more.
