Is it normal to need this?

I'm an 18 year old female that is too dry. So, I use lube. I'm a bit embarrassed buying it because it is a product for post-menopausal old women. Anyway, it works. Should I be concerned about this?

    See your GYN first.

If you're healthy, then your natural lubrication is a combination of how aroused you are, and how often you have sex. Your vagina is a muscle, if it's not used regularly it takes longer to get things started when you're aroused (kind of like a lawnmower that's been sitting in the backyard for months). You don't have to be a pornstar or have sex everyday or every week, but have a partner you trust whom you can comfortably experiment with every now and then until your body gets use to the activity. Also, it is possible that we're simply not enjoying the sex with whomever and will dry up in the middle of it.

There's nothing wrong with using lubricants, but you can use different ones other than Rephresh. My personal favorite when I was having sex for the first few times was Aqua by Wicked. If you want, you can get Yours+Mine by KY that creates different sensations for both involved.

Talk to your gyno. You're too young to blame it on yourself. Probably just piss poor lovers.

      • Mostly touch myself. Lovers have to be my age or one year younger, and very good friends. They cannot expect to know any secrets about me. Those are reserved for my female friends. I definitely don't do hookups, and I drink very little at parties.

Ah, then you just need more experience. Masturbation isnt nearly the same as being with a person because they have their own rhythm you can't control or stop at anytime.

If you have a trusted friend you can be FWB with, you'll eventually start lubricating on your own when you're in the mood. Just be sure to use lube the first few times until you can do it yourself, and don't be ashamed.

          • I have been active since age 16, although not frequently, and I used lube my first time. The dryness is the same with or without a partner. The first few times were over with about a year ago. But lube works. The question is after two years, should I be concerned?

I have no idea where you got the idea that lube is only for post-menopausal women. Vaginal dryness is common in women after the menopause, but if the market was actually limited to sexually active women over fifty, there wouldn't be such a huge variety of lubes available.

It is possible that you're naturally just not very juicy. Some women aren't, and that's not something to be ashamed of.

Like most things related to female sexuality, vaginal lubrication is a complicated and lots of things can affect it. If you're using the contraceptive pill, that could be reducing how much vaginal lubrication you produce. Some women can feel very aroused sexually, but their body takes a little time to respond to what's going on in their head. Some women experience marked differences in their vaginal lubrication at different phases of their cycle.

There's nothing at all wrong about using lube, but your age makes me wonder if you've experimented on your own enough to be familiar with your sexual response. If you get very wet when you're messing around with yourself, but you experience too much friction when you're having sex with someone else, then obviously something isn't quite right with what the two of you are doing and what's going on in your head then. If you never get very wet when you're masturbating even though you can get to orgasm, then it could be worthwhile for you to talk to your gynaecologist about this.

    • Sounds like you haven't had a younger woman in a long time. Your answer has a lot of presumptions, but thank you. The link was helpful.

Totally normal, but you can always go to a gynaecologist to get checked if you’re really concerned. It can get worse on a lot of types of birth control as well. One pill brand I tried totally dried me up and I had to use lube. But the problem persisted, albeit became less of an issue, after I switched to an IUD. I legit tried so many things and different brands of lube to get myself wet and nothing was working until I stopped rushing with my partner and made him spend more time on foreplay until I felt like I was really really ready to start. Sometimes you just need to give yourself time and don’t feel pressured to start sex early because the guy you're with is wanting to rush into penetration (if he doesn’t listen to your needs after you voice them, move tf on because he’s not worth your time). Also BE CAREFUL what type of lube you use with condoms. Water-based or silicon (never use silicon lube with silicon sex toys, it will ruin the toy) is safe because it won’t cause the condom to break. Oil-based lubes will break the condom.

I’ve always used lots of lube. Never been an issue with any man. You need even more with condoms

I'm not always well lubricated either and I started late having sex.. occasionally my partner will need to used lube for vag sex so it's pretty normal and I am sure you would not be the only young woman that has this problem

Some guys might be annoyed if you need lube, but I wouldn't be. A lot of guys like using lube better than none anyway. So It might bother some people but overall its not a big concern. Any idea as to why you don't get wet?

Do you ever get sexually aroused (turned on)? And if so, do you feel wetness when it happens?

  • Just think of Trump’s wrinkled orange dick, that’ll be sure to get the juices spurting. You’ll be so wet people will hear the waves breaking in your pussy.
