Is it normal to not be able to get along well with people your own age?

I tried to date guys my own age. I found they are mostly shallow and have nothing to say. They are too immature.

People my age are still immature. I'd prefer to have friends who are older than me, they don't try to impress others by living a lie.

I'm the same way. I tend to get along better with people who are older than me. Being around my peers or younger people makes me feel so old. It also makes me almost upset with their lack of morals, shallowness, love of auto tune and other negative things. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to generalize. This is just what I've experienced over the years.

When I was in first grade my only friends were in 6th grade. I turned out ok.

I'm the same way. When I was a child/teenager every single one of my teachers adored me, while most of the students either bullied me or ignored me.

As an adult, I have some friends my own age but I rarely ever see them so it's hard to gauge how close my relationships with them are.

However, when I volunteered at a thrift store for a couple of months, I almost immediately became close to a couple of other women who were about twice my age. I think they saw me as a daughter figure or something.

I've found that I tend to get along easier with people much older than myself, but it's fun hanging out with other 19 year olds too, let's me let loose every once in a while.

I tend to fit in better with those younger than I. I guess I'm ahead of my time.

When i was in 5th grade most of my friends were in 8th grade :P

When I was very young I was often around adults instead of children and I later found it more difficult to connect with people my own age. I'm still that way. I just prefer to be around those who are older than me. Ironically though I'm dating someone who's almost two years younger than me, but he's the same way I am so I guess that's why we were actually able to hit it off.

I am the same way, I feel more threatened by people my age vs older or younger people.

Do you think it is to with age?

Maybe you just don't know the right people your own age.
