Is it normal to not feel pain?

I don’t feel pain like those around me. Yesterday I dislocated a finger at work (where I am now lol) and it was like huh, that’s gonna hurt but it doesn’t. Could it be from multiple injuries as far as a tolerance to something or is that a myth on par with the things alcoholics tell themselves? I’ve dislocated hips and put them back in, used to race motorcycles, broken all sorts of stuff. When someone dislocated something does it hurt for more than a few minutes? I joke with Doctors about when I’m getting my super hero cape, but sometimes it scares me because what if I get really hurt and don’t know it?

  • Dude that’s awesome! If you’ve never felt pain, that’s a very rare disorder. It means you can do basically anything and be almost unstoppable! Look up what Military Medic said. It only affects about 100 people world wide.

Read up on congenital analgesia, it could be hereditary if you never feel pain. Dislocated joints are very painful, you get the majority of relief once the joint is realigned properly, but it should still be a little tender for a day or two.
If you do feel some pain, you probably just have a plain old high tolerance for pain.

    • Thanks, that read me like a book, except for the cognitive delays. That was like reading one of my Dr reports. Guess I better get checked next time I stop in. Joint is a little stiff but not painful. And I’ve never had a seizure, but when I was a kid I used to get heat-stroke so much my mother wouldn’t let me outta the house. Might be something to that.

Also thanks for being a “MilitaryMedic” without y’all my baby brother never would have made it home.

I’m glad he made it back. Give him a hug. Take care.
