Is it normal to not have cable?

So I am considered a millennial but I often don't fit the stereotype. Like I haven't updated my cell phone or computer in 5 years. But also I do not have cable (for the record I live alone and support myself for the last 8 years). I just use bunny ears. I mean, it's free and the channels I get (6 local) are all in HD, so why not just stick with that? People tell me I am weird, and I've yet to meet another person under 50 that agrees with me. Is it normal to pull the plug on cable for young people???

A lot of people don't have cable. I'd be fine if I just had hulu and Netflix. Amazon fire stick is awesome and totally worth buying.

Normal enough for me. The modern digital, cell phone, smart thing is too much of a clutter to me, and I like to keep things simple and clean.

My family pays for TV but I always just use my laptop if I want to watch anything. Even when I had an apartment and a TV I never hooked the TV up to anything than my computer to watch netflix or a movie lol

If you don't watch tv very much, you are doing yourself a favor. More money in your pocket and less dead brain cells. No one "needs" cable, it's a first world luxury.

I'm assuming you watch more media on the internet? I think this a trend that will eventually kill the pay tv industry.

    • same here. I have to have internet at home. I work half of the time from home, so I have no way around that. I just do not have the cable subscription, saves me like $30-50 a month

When I grew up there were only 3 channels and they broadcast in black and white. Star Trek was the first show I ever saw in color and I went to a friend's house to watch it, very Thursday evening.
Six channels is plenty, especially if you don't watch much TV.
I remember visiting folks with sat TV and even with hundreds of channels, there wasn't a damn thing worth watching, at times.

Not having cable is normal (I don't have cable) but using bunny ears is pretty weird.

The stations you can pick up with them are honestly not worth it.

        • How are they not "worth it"? They are FREE! Meaning they do not cost anything!

            Not worth wasting time on.
A lot of things are free. Rusty earrings in garage sale "free" boxes. Gum off the floor. Jehova's Witness pamphlets. Doesn't mean they're any good
