Is it normal to not use the little hole in the front of men's underwear?

I learned as a little boy that it takes too long and it's too much trouble to try to get my dick through that little hole in the front of my underwear so I can pee. So, very early on I just began pulling the waistband down low enough to pull my dick straight out over the top of it when I have to pee. It works much better, except when I lose my grip on the waistband while I'm peeing and it pops back up to my waist, pulling the head of my dick up with it and spraying pee all over the place.
I always wonder, do any guys actually try to get their dick through that little hole when they're in a hurry to pee? I'm surprised the fashion industry hasn't just eliminated it.

    if im drunk and in a hurry and peein outside ill go over the waistband

    never had a problem with the hole in shorts or jeans

    just watch out for the zipper monster

    Trying to take Junior out through the double fabric fly of briefs and boxerbriefs is more work than just pulling your UW down. Especially if you are wearing gym shorts, trackpants, or sweatpants that have an elastic waist. When I wear boxers with jeans, I'll use the fly of both my boxers and my jeans.

      I go thru the zipper in my jeans and reach in and pull the waistband of my underwear down.
