Is it normal to poop in my hand first then toss it in the bowl after examination

I sniff it, scrape it a little with my nails first, poke it a little and flip it over to fully examine it, then plop it in the bowl, flush it and wash my hands.

    I remember going through a brief phase of doing this when I was in grade school (although I didn't actually moosh it in my fingers), but I stopped being curious after a couple of months.

    By the way, if your poop is so solid that you can scrape it with your fingernail, that suggests you could probably do with more fibre in your diet and you might be under-hydrated.
