I sometimes join chatrooms and just pretend to be a girl. I'm not trans or anything but it feels so good being able to be whatever you want.

I pretend to be a guy to be seen as a default character, but if you're pretending to be a girl...why? I don't get it
If you just mean you act feminine then it's not that weird, lots of women also pretend to be a guy online. but if you're one of those who does so to give fake "female opinions" or trick people into liking you then no.
Whether this is innocent or creepy depends on how you’re interacting with people. If you’re just having anonymous banter I don’t see an issue, but if you’re forming friendships based on lies you are being a catfish and they made a whole show about how immoral that is.
I think it's a waste of time to pretend to be someone you aren't, and it's also dishonest.
Seeking attentions.
You gain more attention, your idea is more accepted, welcomed nicely when you are a women. As a man, you can't have that attention, no one is supporting your opinions or get a warm welcome.
That's one reason men who are, non homosexual or no trans do that.
Even here , check the post and comments from a female named account. See how many replies and acceptance they get for their opinions, despite the fact how stupid those ideas are sometimes. Go to face book. Women saying I'm bored get hundred thousands likes, hearts, comments while a man say I just discovered how to grow fruit and vegetables without water or fertilizer which he prove and could be a solution for food crisis, they get one saying cool man and two thumbs ups.
But always even it's for sexual purposes or attention seekers, the more some one playing as opposite sex online, more you are giving away as a catfish or fake. People notice that even tho they don't say anything
If you were catching creeps or what PurpleHoneycomb said if you were being trans or questioning yourself then those two would be considered normal. Other than what you're describing is not normal.
Pretty fucked up, dude. I'm more worried though at the amount of people who have deemed this "normal".
If you were trans or questioning your identity then it's normal. If you KNOW you aren't trans, then it's not only not normal but genuinely creepy.
